All the reports I've read so far are with cameras with horizontal
travelling, multi-bladed, metal focal plane shutters.  Specifically models
of Nikons that do not have a 'full mirror lockup feature' (as opposed to
those that only allow mirror lock-up seconds before the shutter fires).  I
understand that Nikon did this because these shutters have a *possibility*
of light leaks if the mirror was able to be  left fully locked up.  I
believe they got around this by using a double-bladed shutter in some of
their models (like the F4).

So....is it possbile that the faint horizontal line is caused by some
infrared leaking through this type of shutter?  (I use an old F2 for
infrared shooting and haven't seen this effect)
