But static usually makes marks that look sort of like lightning, as I
think you described them in a previous post or like some sort of
little black insects on the neg.  The faint line that is being
discussed here is straight and continuous from one end of the roll to
the other.  The fact that you evidently had static problems with a
motor drive is potentially useful information, but I really don't
think it's germaine to the "faint line" problem unless you also had
the latter and got rid of it by removing the motor.  Did you?
