Kind of on the same subject but alomost not:
I was getting fogged film, green.  So all my scans were coming up
Magenta, or red, whatever.
I went and threw out about 40 feet of film from the bulk loader, got a
new bulk loader, and pulled out a lot of hair before I realized that
there was a message on the phone in the darkroom.
The phone blinks a red LED when a message is stored.
After deleting the message, and informing the secretary that I don't
notice messages until I have fogged film (and that's why I have a phone
on my desk in the newsroom), I got rid of my problem.
Who would have thought that a little LED could fog film from 8 or ten
feet away, and make me so damn frustrated (not to mention the rest of
the staff!)
Sheesh.
