I have been using Patterson tanks and reels for many years with my 35mm
IR with no problems.  Kodak tends toward the side of caution with these
matters.  There are some very cheaply made plastic tanks that are not IR
opaque.  However, I would think that anyone who would go through the
bother of using IR would tend toward not using poorly made products.  I
would think that at least 99% of the tanks in use today should be just
fine.
