Hello,
I haven't tried one for infrared but I see no reason why it 
shouldn't work flawlessly. Generaly the F-1s were build like tanks.
Three versions have been made over the years and no matter which - 
I would snatch the seller's hand off for $150 incl.a 50mm,
especially if it's a 50/1.4.
