As far as HIE 35mm in 150' bulk rolls go:
"All I know is what I've been told"; no personal experience whatsoever.
After ordering a roll from B&H in NYC for $146 US and posting that info to
everyone, I was reminded by someone on this list that the sprocket holes
were different than "normal 35mm" holes and therefore, the film wouldn't
work. PANIC set in! I immediately called Kodak and talked to what
sounded like a very knowledgable technical person who confirmed that
the sprocket holes are indeed NOT compatable with typical 35mm
cameras. Now I know we all like to think that our own photography is
atypical, but I think we all use standardized equipment, regardless of
manufacturer....... ;=)
Luckily, B&H kindly cancelled my order as their buyer hadn't actually
picked it up from Kodak yet..... WHEW, relief set in.
While I can't stop anyone from purchasing a roll of this film, either for the
B&H price or the list price that is noticeably higher, I'd appreciate it if
someone else took the monetary risk for all of us and confirmed or
denyed the claim to the sprocket hole incompatability. In fact, I DARE YA!
Maybe we can lay this beast to rest, once and for all.
And as far as the 70mm goes, I can't figger out why Kodak even bothers
perforating the stuff in the first place, considering my 70mm Graflex back
doesn't have any sprocketed rollers! I could get a whole nuther 5-10mm
worth of image area on the filim if it weren't for those silly holes.... :=)
Have a nice day...............

I more than strongly doubt this explanation.
The only strange perforation I have heard of in general is 'no
perforation'; motion picture perforation is identical to the ones
used in photo business.
Even 70mm perforated uses the same sprocket pattern and size as
35mm....and if your camera needs only perforation on one side, you
could splice film....:-))
Btw, if it really would be used in motion picture, why the heck didn't
they ever invite me for a nice IR-movie?!?....;-))
Reminds me of the dream of running 70mm HIE in an Omnimax
theater....I have even seen 70mm stereo Omnimax being shot (not sure
which theaters on the globe can project this type)....now that would
be nice in HIE!
One large application for HIE 35mm bulk is in long roll photo
systems (all big manual cameras had one, Pentax, Olympus, Nikon,
Canon, Rollei)....those definately count on ordinary sprockets.
