Re: RC Papers

RC papers have improved tremendously over the past 25 years, with deep blacks
and clean whites that rival fiber papers. The ease of processing and
mounting makes them an excellent choice in many cases. The Luminos RCR has a
great surface for handcoloring, but it's curve shape does make for tough
printing from IR negs; that depends largely on the neg density/contrast and
the subject matter. My first choice for competition prints from IR is the
Kodak Polycontrast III. It has excellent shadow detail and deep blacks; I
have to fight for the highlight detail, but there are ways around that in the
darkroom. The Ilford MGIV prints the highlights beautifully, but is lacking
in the shadows.
I hope this is helpful. Any one with specific questions can contact me
directly at email address: JONP53 @aol.com
