The red specs--but not the white ones--sound like a problem I had with
the old E-4 emulsion.  It occured on only one roll, which I had sent
to a run-the-mill E-4 processor (it was that long ago).  I got a
grudging appology and an explanation--that pinholes had been caused in
all but the red-die layer by a problem on the processing line.  No
refund.  I switched to Kodak processing and it never happened again.
