This is something that has crossed my mind more than once. It sure would be 
a lot easier than trying to cut the sprocket holes off 70mm.  Loading the 
cut film onto 120/220 reels would be a challenge (I've gained new respect 
for the sense of touch in recent months with all my 70mm loading and 
unloading), but it shouldn't be insurmountable.  This would also give the 
medium format user a way to use Aerochrome 2443 CIR without the expense of 
purchasing a 70mm back.  Who wants to buy some 9.5" HIE or CIR and try it?
