First, I can't think of any adjustable plastic developing reels that have a
position for accomodating 70mm. The ones I've dealt with have 3
positions; 35mm, 126 and 120/220.

Now for the 70mm reels. I have a 15 foot and a 5 foot Nikor SS reel. I got
the smaller one in its original box with instruction sheet and little SS
"loader". This loader amounts to a small square (approx. 70mmx70mm)
sheet of SS with a lip on two sides and bent in the shape necessary to
get the film into the center of the reel and loaded. Nothing tricky or
"over-engineered". Like most users of SS reels of any size, I someday
hope to be able to say "You don't need no stinking loaders!" as its just an
acquired skill to hold the film the right way to get it into the reel and
loaded. Personally, the wider the film, the easier it must be to load it up
onto a developing reel, as there's more room inside the reel to fiddle
around and get the leader into the spring clip.
Now, as far as an Alden bulk loader being able to load exposed film into
a developing reel; "I don't think so!" I've seen an Alden and almost
purchased it (used and possibly incomplete) for $60 US. Its just like the
Watson I use for 35mm bulk loading, only wider and heavier. Neither of
these bulk loaders seem to have been designed for such a dual purpose
of bulk loading unexposed film into film cassettes ("magazines" for us
70mm people)as well as loading exposed film into developing reels,
AFAIK.
There, that should serve to enlighten the masses, and then some.... :=)
