Just a thought...  I believe that it might be possible to get 70mm
film to fit on some old reels which accept 616/116 size films.
The length might be a problem, but I remember an old tank that 
I actually used for 616 (running a roll or two of Verichrome
through my dad's old Jiffy Kodak) whose bakelite reels were
very deeply grooved and in which the film was fairly loose.
616's format was 2 1/2x4 1/4 inches, so the overall film
width must have been about 70mm.
