The Alden has a "gauge" which approximates how much film is loaded. Moving
from one notch (actually a number) on the gauge to the next will load about
17' of film into the 70mm cartridge. While this works well, there's enough
slop built into the gauge to make "exact" loading of a certain amount of
film questionable (plus or minus 10-15 frames if you're shooting for 60).
All in all though, the Alden is a fine unit and I wouldn't hesitate to
recommend it.
