Hi, I'm a lurker here (never did fill out the member info). I've found
out a 
couple of things that may be of interest.

1. Changing bags.

I have an el cheapo that is IR proof (but a pain to use) and the Calumet
(Photoflex) 'changing room' that is NOT IR proof, at least for HIE.  I
have
tested it by opening a film box inside it while the bag is exposed to
daylight
for 10 minutes.  The box contains one sheet of HIE and one TMax.  When
the
film is developed, the HIE is completely fogged and the TMax is clear.

I called Calumet on this and they told me to talk to Photoflex since
they had never heard of the problem.  After going though three people, I
arrived
at the bag's designer who knew of the problem and attributed it to IR
film
being sensitive to heat!  I explained that it was not heat sensitive
(at least not that way!) and he said there was nothing that could be
done
but they would include a note with the bag from now on.  I reported this
back
to Calumet and they said they would note it in their computer.  They did
suggest using a 'space' blanket over the bag - anyone tried this??

2.  On my last vacation, I had an occasion two times to shoot a scene
(without moving the camera, etc.) with Tmax, Velvia, and HIE.  The HIE
shows
a distinct aperture hexagon which is not present on either the Tmax or
Velvia.

Both times the sun was high in the sky (I know , too contrasty, but I
was on V)
but not shining into the lens, i.e.  the lens was shaded.  Any ideas on
what caused this?
