I've been using both old and new Paterson tanks for maybe 15 years now.
I have done HIE a number of times, with no problems. They are, IMHO,
some of the best tanks ever made, and I now use them exclusively,
with the exception that Paterson no longer makes a 4x5 tank and I flat
refuse to buy Jobos because of the ridiculous pricing. So I get along
just fine with two old F-R sheetfilm tanks.

The only tanks that I have ever heard of that migtht leak IR are
very early plastic tanks (late 4o's?) in which the dye used in the
plastic resin was opaque to visible light but passed some near and a
lot of middle infrared. I have never heard of a tank fluorescing
in the near IR. One would think that nowadays, any plastic considered
by any major manufacturer would be opaque to all possible light
that any film might be sensitive to. After all, now there is such a
fantastic choice of resins and pigments available that there certainly
is neither any excuse or price penalty involved.
