Andy (and others),
Sounds like your technique works, but I must play devil's advocate and
ask "Why don't you just use a changing bag in a shaded area?" I've been
doing just that for years without any major problems. I do have to wind
through the X, 00 and 0 frames once I close up the camera back, as the
changing bag is not 100% light-tight to IR, but I'd say that's SOP for all film
changes done in anything but total darkness. Other than that, I have no
problems using a small, inexpensive changing bag. And, it folds up into a
very small lump that fits into my Tamrac photo-backpack, or even a small
fanny pack.
Sorry, don't mean to rain on your parade, but for me, the more I keep life
simple, the fewer times I find myself acting stupid...... :=)
