B&W Printing

A bit back there was discussion about Agfa Portriga paper. Those who
lament the old Portiga should try Ilford's Warm Tone Multigrade. Unlike
the ads, this is a warm tone, not brown tone paper, and beautiful. It does
have two drawbacks, it is the slowest paper I have ever used. With a
"normal" 120 Konica 750 negative, to make an 11x11 inch print with a
difussion enlarger took over 5 minutes. The same negative on Agfa RC was
about 45 seconds. Its surface is also sticky when damp. I air dried
several prints over night and the next day I accidently laid one on top of
the other. When I came back an hour later they were stuck fast.
Fortunately, soaking it warm water freed them with no ill results. When
totally dried they are fine.
