Or you could mix up some REAL fine grain developer and try that.  MCM 100 
or something else that incorporates paraphenylene diamine (no 
substitutes! -- commonly available "fine grain" developers often use a 
concentration of sulfite which dissolves the edges of the grain and to my 
eye destroys the texture of the image).

It's a lot of trouble, but if you care enough to shoot the stuff to begin 
with it is certainly worth considering.
