Communion Portraits

Actually, since this little girl had dark hair, the eyes didn't stand out so
much.  On a blond person, they really do look spooky!  Plus, I did shots of
her looking off to the side or down at her flowers, so the eyes weren't as
strong a focal point.  In the images where the girl had a serious
expression, the eyes looked somewhat spooky, but in the smiling photos they
didn't.  Although one of my photographer friends teased me, saying the girl
looked like a ghost and those eyes would give him nightmares :-)

Most of the shots were full length, off in the distance, but I did one
close-up of the girl looking straight at camera, holding three collector's
dolls (each wearing a communion outfit) and the mother picked that one for
an 8x10.  The softness and glow almost made this image look like an old
photograph.  She also ordered a 16x20 full-length of her daughter looking
off to the side, which I'm going to hand color.  

Printing was done by listmember Jonathan Penney, www.bwdarkroom.com, and I
used Kodak HIE 35mm film.
