Re: There are a lot of mistakes in this IR photography book!

I have been involved in the publication of a great many magazine articles
and books in technical fields and I know of no publisher that would just
print what the author submits without having the copy reviewed by
independent experts for factual accuracy.  Those pieces that are based on
opinion or a diary of personal experience go unreviewed for accuracy, but
only for style and clarity.  What are the policies of art book publishers?
I think since the Airey book purports to give technical information, it
should have been reviewed in advance, and I fault the publisher for not
going to the trouble as much as the author for confusing descriptions of
her procedures with the reasons she thinks they work.  (This last point
telegraphs my impression from her seminar that she makes considerable leaps
of faith to relate her results to the techniques she has used.)
