I've got only one Amphoto book.  I can't recall the authors name, but it
purports to be a landscape instructional type book.  Yet the photos are
second rate and the instructions typically consist of: "I attached my
Canon 70-210 zoom to my Canon AE-1 and exposed for 1/30 sec for the
trees."  

After reading the IR radiation in the fixer quote, I remain unimpressed
with Amphoto.
