Ferricyanide -- use common sense

There are lots of chemicals used in photography
and everyone should use common sense when using them.
I looked up Potassium Ferricyanide in my Merck Index:
C6FeK3N6; mol wt 329.25. ... K3Fe(CN)6
Ruby-red crystals, d 1.89. Slowly sol i 2.5 parts cold
water, in 1.3 parts boiling water; slightly sol in alcohol;
decomposed by acids. The aqueous solution decomposes slowly
on standing; Protect from light.
USE: Chiefly for blueprints; in photography; also for
staining wood, dyeing wool, calico printing, as etching liquid
(Mercer's liquor), tempering iron and steel; in electroplating;
as a mild oxidizing agent in organic synthesis; in analytical
chemistry.
There were no special cautions given other than PROTECT FROM LIGHT
So, it looks like it's not too dangerous as long as you use
common sense--don't sniff it, don't ingest it, do not mix it with acid,
and don't pour large quantities of it down the sink without running
water at the same time to dilute it, don't store it in clear bottles
(use amber glass or brown plastic) If you open a package or jar of it,
especially a large one make sure you have adequate ventilation.
