Hi,
	I would try using  some high power gallium aluminium arsenide infra-red 
emitting diodes, they have an 880nm peak wavelength emission with a spectral 
bandwidth of 80 nm. Check the data sheet on any you intend using as some diodes 
have very long wavelengths and narrow spectral bandwidth.
