You need to choose toners that tone from opposite ends of the print tone
scale. Sepia tones from highlights to dark, selenium or gold from dark tones
to light. And you need to do alot of testing. Nothing is simple. I have
successfully toned in selenium first, then sepia. You may want to try toning
only in sepia (for short times) just to change the highlights ala Michael
Kenna. His highlights are warm but his darker tones appear neutral.
