COLOR IR MACRO-PHOTO

Lurker's Question:
I've been reading your posts with great care as I have limited
experience with IR photo. But find it fascinating as an imaging
tool.
I'm curious: there seems to be very few who use COLOR INFRA-RED
in their creative efforts... Any positive reactions ?
A personal observation would be that B&W INFRA-RED photos tend
to look like, simply deep red filtered or dark green filtered
shots, depending on subjects, to quite an extent...
Whereas I entertained the fantasy that it could allow, ALMOST,
sort of a poor man's color enhanced thermography...
Do any of the photo-buffs reading this have a few shots posted
of flower IR macro-photography on the Web ?
Another subject that would come to mind is this one: when
trippin' around in a provincial park, quite a few years ago,
I observed, using my Nikon with two close-up lenses, that
what first appeared as moss on a large rock, when examined
close-up, actually was a MINI PALEOLITHIC FOREST.
It was (is) VERY DETAILED, very highly textured,
almost like from another planet.
Since it just about was all green and bluish, and EXTREMELY
BEAUTIFUL, very odd shapes, the kind a Salvador Dali would
have used on his paintings had he seen what I then saw,
I would pass on the idea here to try it out in INFRA-RED
either B&W IR or COLOR IR. It would also make a fabulous
FALSE COLOR digital photo subject for someone equipped
with a slide scanner (or who has access to one),
once the depth of field and contrast are dealt with positively;
obviously, a high resolution macro capable lens would be
a plus here, with extension tube. The plants I'm talking about
are all less than an inch tall and there must be fifty odd
pre-historic shapes per square inch. M.C. Escher has also
done an etching of the exact same subject, as I suddenly recall,
blown up as a "chunk of botanic archaeology" on his canvas.
Any reactions ? Or, do any have such photos in their portfolio
that we might share on the Web ?
At least, frankly, I know exactly where I'll return this Spring !
THEN: have any of you used flashlights to "heat up" (or enhance)
details of vegetation, like flowers' pistils and etamen,
in IR context ? Any show-place on the Web for such work ?
A thousand thanks,
Andr=E9 Jean Quintal
