Re: COLOR IR MACRO-PHOTO

I think more people have NOT used colour infrared in the past because it
was so EXPENSIVE (about CDN $15 per roll). Not only was the film
expensive but the older colour infrared film required process E-4 which
only a few laboratories around the world could do (One place called Rocky
Mountain Film Labs in Colorado charged US$13 for the service plus
shipping charges). Kodak will send you the formula for E-4 if you ask
for it and if you care to mix your own colour developer solutions but I
think it is not worth the trouble! Add to the expense the fact that
colour infrared is largely "hit or miss" and experimental and you had
better be prepared to spend a LOT of money for some POSSIBLY good
photos! I think the current E-6 compatible colour infrared will help the
situation somewhat but only time will tell if it will gain the following
that black and white infrared has got.
Besides, as with all black and white films, there is a certain pleasure
to be had in interpreting the negative into a custom print which just
isn't the case with colour infrared slide film (not usually, anyways).
Good luck!
