Different types lights give off different amonuts of IR light.

Tungsten : This gives off the highest amount in the IR in proportion
to visible light.  I also believe that tungsten gives off more (in
proportion)
than even tungsten halogen lights.  These are a good choice of lights if
you can get good controllability and do not mind 'cooking' your subject.

Fluorescent : This gives off Very  little to none.  Totally useless I am
afraid
to say, but also I would never use it for lighting a photo as it has no
controllability.

Strobe : This is the one I would go for as long as they have a
reasonable power
output.  You will need to try a few exposures but assume you are going
to loose
about 3 stops of any metered value for you filter.

I know there was just a HUGE discussion about this but it didn't apply
to me
at the time so I didn't pay attention.  But now, I am in a portrait
photography studio art class and we will be shooting in the studio.  I
thought
I might try some infra red.  Is it affected by all light sources in the
studio????ie tungsten, flourescent, strobe or is it affected by some,
more
than others.  You don't have to get into great detail as I know this is
an old
topic but if you could just send me some private email I would
appreciate it.
