HIE Loading Warnings...

     Hi Everybody,

     Ever wondered about that little warning on the lid of the HIE (and
     EIR) can that says "Open cannister, load and unload film in complete
     darkness", or something like that.

     I thought that was just to make you feel important for using IR film,
     and decided that maybe it wasn't necessary.

     BIG MISTAKE.

     I loaded a roll of HIE in the open boot of a car (shaded sunlight),
     thinking it would be ok.The leader was exposed for about 10 seconds.

     Upon processing, I discovered that frames 1-10 were completely black,
     10-20 suffered from black/grey bands every 1-2cm (still unprintable),
     20-25 slight grey banding (almost printable) and 25-36 OK.

     So, I have learned my lesson. Luckily it was only HIE, not EIR ($$).
