Mmm....AFAIK, Hoya does/did not have a #87, only a #89B ("R72", very
dark red, but not opaque) and a #87A ("RM90", the darkest possible
color in the Wratten series, but claimed to be outside the range of
HIE, hence definately not compatible with Konica/Ilford/Agfa).
You most likely used this R72 version, right?
Other than that, #87 is indeed the practial upper limit for Konica,
#87C is quite a bit darker, and causes excessive long exposures.
