Of course, much has to do with the way you develop the film.  If you look in the
West Wing of my Web page, note that "House Of Dreams I", "Discovery", and "Bosky
Bagatelle" were shot at EI 50-100 TTF.  "House Of Dreams III", and "Rest Gently"
were shot at EI 250 TTF.  The slower speed will produce low contrast images. 
Developing to increase contrast will result in bulletproof negatives that will
be very difficult to print.  By increasing the EI, you can develop for your
"typical" time and achieve "normal" contrast.  By not "overdeveloping" you will
ease up on the development of the apparent grain.  The great thing about HIE is
that you have the choice of how you can develop your image.
