Just waiting for this one ;-)
Now that scanning technology cost/functionality is pretty good, a 72dpi
scan is probably great. I bet the quality is still improved slightly by
scanning at higher resolution and resizing in PhotoShop or similar even
with the best scanner.
Mileage will vary between scanners, however I would always scan at a higher
res. than the final output requirements if at all possible to maximise
quality. Maybe this is mystical thinking, however it works for me :-)
