re: push processing of color infrared

Well, I do not know if it works well with color IR, but why not try using a
flash with IR filter, which could hardly be seen by the dancers.
Having seen some messages recently about filter between film rails and others
about GN reduction of flash with IR filter, I tried the following:
- - fix some #87 filter between the rails of my Nikon FG, with regular scotch
- - fix a #87 filter in front of the flash
- - loading with B+W HIE
- - taking pictures of a black paper with different bracketing.
- - by looking at the negative which gives a density just higher than the
unexposed part of the film, I could determine that the GN should be set to 24
instead of 35. (this gives a 1/3 reduction factor which confirm what was
written before by someone on the list)
So, I hope I will be able to shoot some theatre or concert soon with a only a
very small red blink coming from the flash (much lower than an AF beam for
example).
I also tried with ambient light and TTL metering. This was more tricky: shots
with outside evening light and film set at 64 ASA were strongly overexposed (4
stops), and shots taken inside with halogen light and film set at 50 ASA were
completely burned. The whole film was developped in Tmax by a professional lab.
Does anyone have any suggestion/comments ?
Ciao,
Vincent
