Actually, Rolland was correct.  Sandwiching two *overexposed* slides,
each alone of which would be of low overall density, together raises the
overall density.  I've sandwiched three overexposed EIR slides to get an
interesting image with proper density.  There was an article on
sandwiching in a recent edition of a canadian photo mag.  Sandwhiching
underexposed slides, which are already have too high of an overall
density, would simply increase the total density even more.
