Getting Veins to show with IR film

I've never had any experience with TRYING to get the veins to show, but I've
read about it and Kodak's Medical IR photography booklet recommends diffuse
light for the best vein details. They have one picture of naked lady with
veins coursing all over her body. She was surrounded by a white curtain
which diffused the light falling on her body.
Also, If I remember correctly, veins show up better with IR film, if
the person you are taking pictures of has eaten a meal with in the last 45
minutes. I also think the book said that veins show up very well around the
torso and crotch area.
>From experience I'd say that strong directional light (like noon time
sunshine, on a bright day) is the WORSE kind of light if you want veins to
show up. I've taken quite a few people pictures with IR film (all of them
with strong directional light) and have never had veins in my pictures show
up (which is good , because I never wanted them in the first place).
Probably due to that fact that the strong lighting creates enough IR light to
wash out the vein details that would otherwise apear.
Good Luck!

P.S. Someone asked what color the #12 filter is. #12 is a dark yellow
filter. The #15 and #16 filters will also work well.
