Chances are what you are seeing is simply a better match to your negatives with
Forte than with Ilford.  Ilford's MGIV paper works wonderfully with the
TMax/Delta films, whereas Forte shines with TX/FP4.  As far as infrared is
concerned, I use both papers, preferring Forte.  Some negatives fit well on one
paper, others on the other.

People wishing to understand this may wish to pick up a copy of Phil Davis'
Beyond The Zone System, which should be on everyone's shelf anyway.
