Angela ,
There were several exchanges on the list about the white spots (or as we
called them "pin holes") a couple months ago. There were a bunch of causes
suggested but no one thought they came from anything in the scene itself.
I don't see how water droplets small enough the be suspended in air would
cause this.
My HIE pin holes still occur occasionally but not nearly as bad as before.
I never used an acid stop either. But I switched from D76 mixed with tap
water to Xtol mixed with distilled water and agitated more gently than
previously. (I guess not gently enough to prevent the sprocket hole effect
though.) I am not sure this pin hole problem is purely under our control.
I am beginning to suspect that some batches of HIE may be more prone to
this processing problem than others. Why else would they pop up for folks
who have not seen them before and have not changed chemistries?
Good luck,
EltonK
