I'm not sure this would work very well or accomplish what you wanted it
to. To really get an idea just get some 4x5 IR and load the sheet film
in backwards and expose it. Technically this should make no difference
if the film has no anti-halation layer. HIE has a polyester base which
should make even less impact if shot through.
The aluminum foil would likely only cause fogging where the light
reflects back onto the film, much like the dimple pattern caused by
pressure plates on some cameras. Remember that the "Halo Effect" around
highllights is actually a fairly complex interaction of light refraction
and not a simple reflection. Nevertheless, try it and see what happens.
