Re: Little white spots and static electricity

Dear Ian, Angela, and others,

I have encountered this "pinhole" phenomenom with HIE film
several times when I used tap water. I suspected that some
suspended particle perhaps Iron from rusty old pipes was
a possible cause. I had always used de-ionized (reverse osmosis)
water which was available on tap most places where I did photography.

There was a post from a Brit. awhile back that mentioned iron in
the water and even further back someone mentioned chlorine as
a possible cause.

The question I'd like answered is: has anyone experienced the
minute hole in the film ("pinhole") problem when using distilled
or de-ionized water for all solutions and rinsing?

Hank
