Beginner's Camera

Thanks to all who responded to my inquiry about starter SLR's for IR.
I've researched a lot since my last post, and I'm seriously considering a
Canon EOS 630. This is because I already have a Canon EOS Rebel and
a lens. The 630 uses a mechanical counter, and I like the illuminated LCD
for night shots. I found that the OM-1, Nikon FE, FM, F2, etc, might be
too expensive considering that I can't use my lens on them.
I won't ask the terrible Nikon vs Canon question, but I will ask whether
there is a very good reason NOT to go with the EOS line (assuming I stay
away from the IR counters). I ask becuase I notice from your websites
that none you "real" IR photographers are using any EOS equipment other
than EOS-1(n). So, is the Canon EOS 630 any good? Thanks in advance.
