Re: Beginner's Camera

Jason R. Karlin sent an email on 12/4/98 8:48 am and had these words of
wisdom to say:

I use an EOS 10 for my colour work and an EOS 600 (630) for my black and
white work and started of with an EOS 650, I still personally think the
600 is one of the better EOS cameras. I traded in my first 600 for the 10
and then went and bought another 600 as a second body, the bodies that
started appearing after the EOS 10 were to me too full of gimmicks and
tricks that take away the creativeness of the photographer and rely on
"creative" dialling to get the sort of exposure they think you should
have, you don't learn much from photography if everything is done for
you. To me the biggest waste on the EOS 10 was the bar code scanner, the
competent photographer would have taken about 10 pictures by the time
you'd scanned the code and entered it in, just glad to see it didn't last
long.

As for an EOS 1, well when my photography becomes a means of additional
income I might think about one, it's a silly price for a camera when you
consider the same lenses fit the cheapest of Canon bodies (is there such
a thing as a cheap Canon body?) and you get the same results, the 1 is
fine for those who have photography as their main form of income.

If anyone has a spare EOS-1(n) body they've finished with I'll send you
my address so you can ship it to me and I'll let you know what I think of
it :)
