HIE Base fog problem

This is a bit lengthy, but it's a very odd problem. Maybe someone can
suggest an answer.

I've just processed two cassettes of HIE today. Both were exposed over
Easter weekend, the first one being kept at room temperature in its
canister and the second left in the camera (Cosina CT-1A) not rewound.

They were processed in quick succession, using Rodinal 1+25 for 9 min at
20C, Kodak stop bath, Hypam fixer; the developer came from the same
bottle, mixed with water from the same jug, the others were the same
solutions for each, freshly mixed today.

So what happened? Film 1 was fine - clean, sharp, no pinholes. Film 2
had a dense fog overall, density varying from 1.2 at the leader to about
1.8 after the last frame. There is no sign of banding from light leakage
and the fog is very uniform apart from the steady increase in density.

I've since processed a roll of APX100 using the same equipment and
chemicals - perfect results.

Come on gang, let's have the suggestions!

Colin
