black spots on film

Hi all,
I processed a roll of EIR in C41 chemistry, and got "see through" dots
spread on the film. When the negatives are printed the dots turn out
black on the print. Has anyone had a similar experience?
Did the chemistry eat the emulsion or was the film not store properly or
something. I and the photo shop from were the film was purchased, kept
the film in a fridge.
