B&W processing leaves the silver metal in the film - that stops the IR.
The chrome film (E-6 processed) has no silver but rather color dyes that
pass the IR.
Perhaps trying other films like FP4+ is a waste of time?
I have not heard of the blurriness you mention and wonder if anyone else
has seen that?
