intro
Hiya--
I'm new to this list, so here's the bio we're asked to send....
Name: Ginkgo
- - Profession/Study: Photographer/webdesigner
- - Country: USA
- - Personal history of photography: Lessee, I started a little over 10
years ago, got a BA in Color Technology from Brooks, made the choice to
keep photography as something I do for fun rather than money and then
had the choice made for me by my budget not to do much for the last
several years.... IR was always one of my favorite films, but I know
I've not done as much with it as most of the people on this list. I'm
looking forward to trying to get my hand in again with IR, so I subbed
to this list hoping to mostly lurk and catch up with the latest and
anything I may have managed to just completely forget.
- - Preferred subjects: I'm pretty open, really. Done a lot of nature
and nudes.
- - Materials (film, filters, paper, chemistry): Favorites, besides b&w
IR, would be alternative processes like cross processing, Polapan,
Agfachrome 1000, and digital media.
- - Format (35mm/medium format/large format): 35mm, 6x7, 4x5, and a
crappy digital camera.
- - Other strange hobbies: I've been using the digital camera to do a
very casual sort of everyday self-portrait series designed for the web.
It's something I'd wanted to try out for a long time and the digital
medium finally made it easy and non-labor-intensive enough to do. If
anyone's interested, it's here:

- - How did you find out about this list: search engine
- - In case you already have your own IR-Gallery on the web, please
state the URL/address: (I will then also add your site to the overview
of
IR-Galleries on my homepage!....think of the fame you can get....:-))
Well, I haven't done enough to have an IR gallery, but since people on
this list do seem to be interested in appearing in web galleries for the
added exposure, I figure I should mention that I have a rather strange
sort of gallery thing which I do. I have an online journal in which I
often include other people's work (with permission, credit, linked, and
with copyright notice) in a section called my "virtual museum", and it
does seem to funnel some traffic on to the featured artists' sites, so
if anyone's interested, you can go take a peek at how I do it (the index
is here:
http://www.jade-leaves.com/journal/journal_index.shtml
and most recent entries contain "virtual museum" pieces)
and if you're interested in being featured, you can email me privately.
- - Expand on anything photographic you like:
I guess mostly I'd like to lurk in here and soak up information for when
I have the money to invest in personal film&paper work again. Right now
I'm mostly limited to digital media because there's no film&paper costs
involved. (Also very little quality involved, but don't feel sorry for
me--all our money is going into starting a new computer business right
now, so I'm *happily* deprived.)
Anyway, thanks for letting me come in to lurk, take care--
