I am not sure you can cram 500W into a normal round unit....somewhere
there will be heat problems I guess/fear.

However, I do know of extreme high intensity search lights, with
high-tech computer designed and aligned reflector/bulb, electronic
zoom (from flood to spot), and even a dazzle-mode (stroboscope). All
handholdeable, though not compact (indutrial gel battery type....one
can put it on the floor).

This is military/SWAT-team stuff, and called Big Bertha....I believe
the equivalent is 6 million candles (ordinary search lights end with
500,000 or so). It is claimed to be the strongest mobile searchlight
on this planet.....

About US$3-4000, just to dampen your enthusiasm....;-))

There are two IR filters for this animal, one showing this faint red,
and one completely invisibile. Add US$500 or so....8-))

There are lesser and more basic models as well, in the 1 to 2
million candle range, including 12V plug-in models (also auxiliary
gel or belt-pack NiCd). US$500-1000. Also with dedicated IR filters.

As for stock automotive stuff: IPF (Japan) goes up to 160W for both
12V and 24V, and has a 210W bulb for 12V.
(btw, you think about the wire diameter you need for
12V-500W, didn't you?....;-))

Btw: what on earth are you doing with all this light on such a large
distance??
