Sounds pretty far-fetched, but I don't have anything to dispute your statement.
The only thing I can think of is that we need to remember that the exposure time
was probably between about 15 and 20 seconds. Were it a shock wave, I would
think that it would be diffused (and not noticeable) because of the exposure
time. I don't know enough about physics to know about this one way or another.
Perhaps if a shock wave appears at a certain ring of distances from the source
this would be correct. Just thinking out loud.
