re: Eric's solarized nudes
Eric, these are terrific. They are indeed reminiscent of certain Man
Ray pieces. No apologies for that or for exhibiting nudes, please.
The bottom two images are my personal favorites because of the
intimacy implied by the arms and hands, the tight cropping of the very
last photo really emphasizing that.
Let's hear it for outdated materials. I have large batches of b/w
film (Pan-x, tri-x) that are dated in the 70's that I still use and
regularly have success with 8-10 year old HIE. My prize outdated
materials are bags of small odd-sized paper left over from the 30's
and 40's, some displaying the NRA (Nat'l. Recovery Act) symbol on
them. Amazingly, most of it is still good! Unfortunately, my boxes
of Ektalure X have turned muddy on me, while waiting for the right
imagery. The only prints I ever made on that paper that I liked the
texture on were some IR nudes.
After seeing your results I'm running out today and purchasing a bunch
of Konica just to store until it's outdated. This is fun. Thanks
Ray
