Re: Sabbatier effect

I checked in my "Encyclopedia of Photograpy" & found that this
effect is a partial reversal, but not a true sloarization - which
is obtained by enormous overexposure in which the curve peaks after
the shoulder & then turns back down. Said to be quite difficult to
actually achieve, in practice. The Sabattier Effect which we call
solarization is done by removing the film from the developer, rinsing,
exposing to a white light and then returned to the developer. The
2nd exposure can only effect the undeveloped shadows, which then
develop out to similar densities as the highlights. Middle tones are
affected to varying degrees. There's other things in the literature,
too -- all very interesting.
