Clive,

     By no means was my response to be taken perosonaly; I hope that is
realized.  You're right, I did restate part of what you said.  It's just that
the fear response always intrigues me, and you just happened to mentioned it.
I've seen how quickly things like this can get out hand (post, er-post etc) on
the list, so I just want to make it clear that I agree with your original
statement.
     Several months ago I saw a documentary type show (on A&E?) on the
musician Bjork.  She was talking about her music, how she views it, what
inspires her, what it means to her... one of the things she said that caught
me off guard was about synthesized music.  She said that people sometimes
think that computerized or synthesized music somehow isn't as valad as music
created with more tradititional instruments; that it lacks soul or emotion.
Her comment was that computers are like any other tool or instrument, and if a
song doesn't have any emotion, doesn't have that certain something behind it,
then it's because the person writting it didn't put it there and not because
the tool is lacking.  I had never thought of it like that, despite how obvious
a statement it is... the analogy to photo I hope is just as obvious.
