If you place a wratten 87 gel in front of the lens and set the menu to
low light (a candle symbol)and switch the flash off, then you produce a
sort of monochrome infra-red like image. I just tried it today,
borrowing the camera from a university. But it was bright sunlight,
otherwise I suspect the light level would be too low.
