Hi,

I'll make my points as concisely as possible.
(1) For street photography you don't need af. If you have read about
hyperfocal focusing no af system can match its speed. Just pick a decent
aperature like f16, f11 and fire, everything in will be in focus. Zooms
arent well suited to this type of focusing.
(2) If you have to have something fast i suggest the n90s but i would hold
off until the n100 is out, since the n60 was just released with capability
to use the new motors, nikons version of canon usm. Im sure that all these
rebates are to clear inventory of the old slow focusing lenses and upgrade
the entire line to AF-S.
(3) I've used the 6006 and have used much worse for photography, its not a
body you can outgrow very quickly, if your not shooting wildlife i dont
think faster af is "needed" but rather wanted. (this is my opinion of course)
(4) If you want more saturation you could consider changing films rather
than camera bodies a much cheaper alternative.
(5) canon usm system is quite nice and i can't see you going wrong by
choosing canon glass and the a5 (non usa model).
(6) Good luck
